UK Armed Forces Facilities to Accommodate Asylum Seekers in Effort to Cease Hotel Usage
Numerous asylum seekers may be placed in armed forces facilities as the administration aims to phase out the use of hotel accommodations.
Talks are in progress regarding the utilization of two facilities - one in Scotland and a second in the southern England - for accommodation for 900 male individuals.
The government leader has ordered Interior Ministry and Ministry of Defence officials to accelerate initiatives to locate proper military sites.
The ruling party has vowed to terminate the use of asylum hotels, which have consumed billions in funds and emerged as a central issue for anti-asylum seeker rallies.
Proposed Defense Locations
Asylum seekers may be placed in the Cameron military facility in the Scottish city and East Sussex training site in southeastern England by the final days of the upcoming month.
Commercial facilities, interim housing and vacant properties are also being examined for potential use.
Authorities Commitments
Authoritative figures stated that each location would adhere to health and safety standards.
"We are extremely concerned at the extent of individuals without proper documentation and asylum hotels."
"This government will close every asylum hotel. Preparations are advancing rapidly, with better facilities being identified to reduce burden for communities and decrease migrant housing expenditures."
Existing Accommodation Figures
Around 32,000 refugee applicants are presently being housed in temporary lodging, representing a drop from a peak of more than 56,000 in the previous year.
A newly released analysis found that substantial amounts of government revenue had been "wasted" on asylum accommodation.
Prior Defense Site Utilization
Two former military sites - former RAF base in the eastern county and former military base in Kent - are presently being utilized to house asylum seekers after being commissioned under the previous leadership.
The Prime Minister remarked on the circumstances, saying: "We remain determined to shut down every refugee hotel. I can't tell you how frustrated and angry we are that we face a situation as significant as this by the last government."
