Barça Ready for Historic Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou this Saturday
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in La Liga two and a half years after they moved out for construction to commence.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees can be present as per the current authorization. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted a fan-accessible workout inside the stadium on 7 November. They mentioned they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt in December in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
